Portal Home > Knowledgebase > RatePoint - Email Marketing > Email Newsletters > What are "border," "padding," and "margin" along the left side of the email builder?
Border, padding, and margin are all properties of every block that you can edit in the RatePoint email builder.
Border will create a border on whatever side(s) of a box you choose (if any), and you can choose how wide to make the border on each side. (Just type 0 for no border.) You can also adjust the border color by clicking "Pick color" next to the "Border Color" option, clicking on the color wheel and then inside the color square, and then clicking "Apply" just below the color wheel.
Padding is essentially indent within a box. If you set the left padding to 20, there will be 20 pixels of spacing between the edge of the box on the left and where the text starts, and so forth.
Margin is spacing outside a box. So, if you set the bottom margin of a box to 30, there will be 30 pixels of space between the bottom of that box and the top of the next box, and so forth.
You can type in a number between 0-100 next to the top, left, bottom, or top slider for each of these properties, or just drag the little blue sliders left and right to decrease/increase the number.
"Edit Column" gives you the ability to edit the border or padding around an entire column of your email campaign.
